About Us

BACKGROUND

Kenya Union of Hair and Beauty Workers (KUHABWO) is a National Trade Union, representing all workers in Hair and Beauty Industry in the Republic of Kenya and registered in December 2010 by the Registrar of Trade Unions-Registration No. TU/157. 

WHERE WE BEGAN

There are nearly 2 million workers in the hair and beauty industry in Kenya. The majority are informally employed, harassed, intimidated, some paid on commission basis with no terms and conditions of work and also lack social protection.This bitter story has motivated our making since 2010.

VISION OF THE UNION

To be a lead trade union, to promote, protect, defend and safeguard workers’ rights in Hair and Beauty Industry, in the Republic of Kenya.

MISSION

To enhance workers Rights through Education, Policy advocacy and
best practices for Social, Economic and Cultural
development.
